Aaron Ja'Von Sam , 23, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on August 12, 2016. He was born January 29, 1993, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, but resided most of his life in the Lake Charles area. Aaron was the son of Marcus and Andrea Angelle Sam. He graduated LaGrange High School in 2011, where he was a member of the football, basketball, track, and baseball teams. After high school, Aaron attended McNeese State University on a full athletic scholarship. While at McNeese, Aaron was an avid member of the football team, where he served as team captain during his senior season. He was awarded All Southland Conference honors in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, he was named McNeese's Most Valuable Player.
On March 3, 2013, Aaron married his high school sweetheart, Mikeisha Coleman Sam. Together they have two children, Aadisyn Joy, 20 months, and Maddox Jamal, 5 months. Aaron was a member of Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church alongside his family.
Aaron is preceded in death and welcomed by his father, Marcus S. Sam; maternal grandfather, Arthur R. Thomas; and close friend Darius M. Edwards.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Mikeisha Coleman Sam; two children, Aadisyn and Maddox; mother, Andrea Angelle Sam; two brothers, Brandon Toussaint and Andr é Sam ; sister, Aasia Sam; maternal grandmother Geraldine Thomas; paternal grandparents, Hazel Jack (Herman) and William Sumbler (Delphine); paternal great grandparents, Morris and Mary Lee Thomas, Senior; Godchild, Kamden Prince; and Godparents, Willona Celestine and Norwood Davis.
Funeral services will be 10: 00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church in Lake Charles, LA with Pastor Rick Treece officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at King's Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA and Saturday morning, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church . Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church , 2711 West Prien Lake Road, Lake Charles, LA, 70605.
