CELEBRATING A LIFE WELL LIVED!!!

"The Lord says, "If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe. When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you. You will live a long life and see my saving power."  Psalm 91 14: 16

GOD'S GIFTS TO EACH OF US ARE OUR BLESSINGS!!!!

On October 24, 1925, Dorsey and Eva Bertrand Vital were blessed with their first son, Adam.   Having experienced the untimely death of their first child, Loretha, the birth of Adam was a precious gift from God. Baptized at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church, he was a dedicated and lifelong member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.   God showered Dorsey and Eva with a large loving family of four daughters and five sons.  A lifelong resident of Welsh, Louisiana, Adam enjoyed a happy, joyous childhood, attending Welsh Rosenwald Negro School, completing only the 4 th grade of his education.   Despite his lack of a formal education, Adam was extremely talented at building and fixing things. From his childhood into his adult years, Adam spent time tinkering on cars and radios.  Lynda, the oldest niece of the Vital clan, also recalls that, "he made model airplanes".  She also has memories of Adam's love of listening to the radio, especially The World Tomorrow by Herbert W. Armstrong, and Reverend Ike, early radio evangelists.  Other nieces and nephews also recall their curiosity about his many radios on different channels in his bedroom, as he often listened to talk radio stations from throughout the United States and Canada.  He also had two-way radios and often listened to the conversations of truckers.

After leaving school, Adam eventually began working with his father, Dorsey, and other members of the extended family, on the rice farm of Joseph Leonard where he spent approximately 30+ years, retiring in 1979.   But retiring   didn't end his love of work as he spent 19 additional years raising cattle and growing rice on the farm of Wayne Pete.  In 1956, Adam married Eloshia (Sue) Marie Rivers and this union was blessed with one son, Raymond.   When his marriage was short-lived, he returned to the family home with his parents, where he was well cared for by all the queens of Dorsey Vital clan, from his mother to his sisters and later his nieces.

Although throughout his life, Adam never ventured far from Welsh, he lived his life to the fullest, enjoying fun times with family and friends at Zydeco dances.  Known as one of the best Zydeco dancers in southwest Louisiana, Adam loved Zydeco music and loved to dance.  He would joyously swing his partners around the floor leaving them breathless at the end of each song.  One of the fondest memories of his nieces and nephews was watching "Uncle Adam and his favorite, "little sister" Lena Mae as they "cut the rug" on their favorite zydeco song at local dances at the Church hall and at weddings.

Adam L. Vital walked through God's shining light on Monday, September 19, 2022 at his home.  He departed for his heavenly home to be united with his parents, Dorsey and Eva Vital, his brothers, Edmond, Wilmon, Willard, and Nolan; his sisters, Lenora Prudhomme, Bertha Mae Lockette Kaough and Lena Mae Lemelle, his son, Raymond, and numerous Vital and Bertrand ancestors.

Adam L. Vital will live forever in the hearts and memories of his sister, Daisy M. Harmon, and niece/little sis, Lynda, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.  Special thanks to Uncle Adam's caregivers, Bobby Rubin, Virginia Back, and Tremaine Eaglin who brought him friendship and comfort during his final golden years. Special thanks to niece, Daisette, who assumed responsibilities and ensure that Uncle Adam's golden years were truly golden and comfortable.  Adam's life was Welsh, Louisiana, the place that he loved and where God blessed him with a long, well-lived life.
