Agnes George Talbert was born March 8, 1919, in Scott, Louisiana. She was the ninth of ten children born to the union of Jules and Orelia Octavia Thibeaux George. She was baptized at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor W. C. Clark. Sister Agnes was devoted member for over 70 years ending under the leadership of Pastor Edward Alexander, Jr.
Agnes George was married to Wilson Clayton, Sr. and to this union, one son Wilson "Jr. Boy" Clayton, Jr. and two daughters, Joan Cuba and Orelia Stevens were born. Later in life, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Gabriel "Gabe" Talbert and to this union, six children were born; four sons, Donald Ray, James (Jimmy), Ernest and Ronald Talbert; and two daughters; Linda T. Lilly and Faye T. Toussand.
"Ms. Agnes", as she was called by all, was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother. She loved to cook and was a gentle caregiver to the sick. She nurtured and cared for each of her nine siblings as they transcended to each of their Heavenly homes. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved her family with every fiber of her being, and she would go to the end of the earth for them. She was one whom you could call upon at any time, and she would be there for you as long as you needed.
After battling such a long and lengthy illness, God called Mrs. Agnes G. Talbert, 91, home to rest at 4:00 P.M. on June 4, 2010 while she was patient at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by two husband, Wilson Clayton, Sr. and Gabriel "Gabe" Talbert; a son, Wilson "Jr. Boy" Clayton, a stepson, Alvin Ray Talbert; five brothers, Andrew George, Lester George, Sydney George, Morris George and Phillip George, Sr.; four sisters Laura Taylor, Cecelia Sam, Edna Dugas, and Gladys George; two daughters-in-law, Cassandra Talbert, and Judy Talbert, two sons-in-law, Robert Cuba, Sr., and John Stevens; three grandsons, Kenneth Moore, Gary Doss, and Kevin Talbert.
Ms. Agnes is survived by eight children and one step-child, four daughters, Joan Cuba of Los Angeles, California; Orelia Stevens of Cypress, California; Linda T. Lilly and Faye (Tony) Toussand of Lake Charles, LA a stepdaughter, Dorothy Barnes of Houston, Texas; four sons, James (Gloria) Talbert, of League City, Texas; Donald (Brenda) Talbert, Ernest (Debra) Talbert, and Ronald Talbert all of Lake Charles, LA; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
