Alice Noel LaFleur Gradney, 100, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on July 2, 2014. She was born in Basile, La., on Dec. 25, 1913. She was married to the late Jessie Gradney. She was the mother of the late Marie (Rayfield) Lavan of Lake Charles,La., Maryann (Elsie) (Johnny) Stewart of Westchester, Ill., Jessica (Jack) Keuper of Beavercreek, Ohio; sister of Adam Lafleur of Basile, La.; grandmother of the late Rayfield (Ella) Lavan Jr., Gregory Lavan, Derrick (Cheryl) Stewart, the late Kevin Keuper, Michelle (Mark) Evans, Karl (Melissa) Keuper; and great-grandmother of Rayfield(Diztorsha) Lavan III, Audrianna Jean, Stacie Jean, Cara Stewart, Erin Stewart, Meaghan Evans, Ian Evans, Tori Keuper, Mason Keuper, Amber Bloomfield and Cody Bloomfield. She isthe great-great-grandmother to Brayden Watkins and Cambree Jean. She also had many nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mrs. Gradney will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her for her loving kindness and zest for life. Her greatest joy was spending time with friends and family. The best way to remember her is to remember all the good things she stood for, to reflect on all that we have learned from her and to show love and kindness towards each other the way she did. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to a charity of your choice or honor her by performing an act of kindness for someone in her memory.
