IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aline Louise
Cotlone Dumas
January 28, 1933 – January 22, 2017
Mrs. Aline Louise Dumas was born January 28, 1933, to the late Leon "Jack" and Allie Cotlone, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mrs. Aline Dumas passed peacefully in her home in Los Angeles, California on Sunday morning, January 22, 2017, at the age of 83. She accepted Christ at an early age.
Aline later migrated to Los Angeles, California, where she met and married Samson "Sam" Dumas of Thomasville, Alabama who has preceded her in death. She worked for many years as a seamstress and presser in the city of Los Angeles and in surrounding areas. Aline was an accomplished baker and seamstress. She was a generous and dedicated person who loved being of service to others. Aline was very passionate about her love for Jesus Christ. She and Sam both joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California in the late 80s under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles Davis Jr. She remained a faithful servant there until the time of her passing. Aline was an active member of the Salem Missionary Auxiliary. She volunteered every year to provide meals for the Vacation Bible School. Aline loved gospel music and could be found every Sunday morning in her favorite seat near the choir loft singing and clapping along with the choir. Aline assisted our pastor, Reverend J. Rannie Williams, making sure he had fresh water in the pulpit prior to beginning each service. Aline could also be depended upon to keep him in check, making sure that he didn't skip one verse in the scripture as he preached an expository sermon.
Aline is survived by two sisters, Bernice Weldon of Houston, Tx. and Bernedette Aaron of Lake Charles, La; her devoted nephew, James Cotlone of Los Angeles, Ca., and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Allie Cotlone; her husband, Sam Dumas; two sisters, Ruby Cotlone Prater and Mattie Belle Cotlone Walker; two brothers, Willie Cotlone and Lloyd J. Skillman.
Her warm smile and loving spirit will be missed by us all. While many of us find it difficult to understand our loss, we must remember as she always reminded us that "The Lord will make a way." Amen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., and funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at King's Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Fork Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
