Alma Babineaux Garrick, age 91 departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Landmark of Lake Charles. She lived most of her life in Mossville and later moved to Lake Charles, La. She was born to the union of the late Joseph Babineaux and Edmonia Kennerson Babineaux. She was joined in holy matrimony to Willie T. Garrick who preceded her in death on September 2, 1961 and because of her love and affection she remained a widow until God called her home. She was also preceeded in death by, one brother, Bill Babineaux, two sisters, Edola Bellard and Eunice Bellard all of Opelousas, one daughter Manna Jean Garrick and one son Joseph Beauford Garrick both of Lake Charles, La. She leaves to mourn one sister, Virgin Whitfield of New Orleans, La and two daughters, Sandra Garrick Mason (Edward) of Lake Charles, La and Wanda Ann Garrick King (Willie Jr.) of Westlake, La., and Margaret Waldon Fontenot (Clarence) of Houston, Tx. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sheila Scott Avent (Jay) of Woodbridge, Va, Corey Wayne Mason (Denise) of San Diego Ca; Anita, Tamika, Mary, Shantel, Lori, Lil Willie, Michael, Phobe Diane, Alma Cassandra and great grandchildren Carrie Mason of San Diego, Ca and Jaylen Avent of Woodbridge, Va., and a host of other great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and community friends. The Garrick family is extremely proud to have "The Willie T. Garrick Center" built, financed and maintained by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury in honor of the community services provided by her late husband Willie T. Garrick. Alma and Willie both worked hard and volunteered in the little community they loved and called home. The center is located at 900 Garrick Road, Mossville, LA. Alma retired from Calcasieu Parish School Board as a Cafeteria worker. She served many years on the church cooking committee at Mt. Zion Baptist Church building many special friendships. Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 9:00AM to 10:45AM with the rosary beginning at 10:00AM at King's Funeral Home located at 1611 Hwy 14, Lake Charles, La. The funeral will be immediately following at 11:00AM at St. Henry Catholic Church located 1021 8th Ave. Lake Charles, La. Interment will be at Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, La.
