Andrew Milton "Pouchie" Batiste was born on January 23, 1957, to the late Walter Batiste, Sr., and Maudry Guillory Batiste in Jennings, Louisiana. He was a Welsh High School graduate. Upon graduation, he furthered his education receiving a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice at Grambling State University. He worked at Boeing as a senior aircraft mechanic, but his true calling came when he fell in love with cement. He was a perfectionist and worked hard his entire life. He was employed at Alfred Miller Construction until his health declined. On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 10:19 a.m., surrounded by his loved ones, Pouchie was called home to rest.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children; three daughters, Ashley Batiste, Andrea Candice, and Jovanna Guillory; one son, Morgon Goodly; two brothers, Walter (Karen) Batiste, Jr. and James (Barbara) Batiste; two sisters, Mary (Michael) Batiste and Emily (Jarvis) Daigle; four grandchildren, Jordan, Kaiden, Haiden, and Juliyan; one special friend and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Maudry Batiste; one sister, Wilma"Marie" Simon and one brother-in-law, Raymond Simon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 7:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, Louisiana, officiated by Father Roland Vaughn. Burial will follow in Bon Pasteur Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
