Angelina Delafose Batiste, 81, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Sister Angelina was born December 23, 1932, in Mamou, Louisiana to the late Esvelle and Oleana Shillow Delafose. She was married to the late Murphy L. Batiste, Sr.
At an early age, she joined and was baptized at Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Mamou, Louisiana by the late Rev. Sam Crowley. She joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church in 1953 and was a faithful member for over 60 years. She served faithfully as Circle 1 leader for the Senior Women Auxiliary and was a Bible school teacher.
She worked several jobs before retiring from the Prien Lake Mall.
Sister Batiste was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Leola Benita Batiste, and four brothers, Sidney Guillory, Wallace Delafose, Lawrence Delafose, and Rodney Delafose.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Daniel W. (Linda) Batiste, Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Earl J. (Stephanie) Batiste of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter Angela M. Durousseau of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Anne Belle Arnum of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Evelyn (David) Lyons of Evergreen, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
