Annie Jean Celestine Bushnell, 73 was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 5, 2021. She was born on April 17, 1948 in Lafayette, LA to the late Whitney Celestine Sr., and Mary Celestine. Annie was baptized and accepted the Lord as her personal savior receiving Christ. She was a longtime member of Word of Faith Full Gospel Church in Lake Charles LA under the leadership of the late Archbishop Allen Celestine Jr. (First Lady Georgia) and currently Pastor Gilbert Brown.
Her lifelong passion was cooking and she loved knowing that people enjoyed her meals. Annie always had a strong passion for cooking all the way down to the smallest ingredients and she has worked in the food service industry for most of her life as she developed the highest skills for cooking everything from southern homestyle to five star fine dining. She worked as a chef for several local restaurants including Cafe Margaux and received additional culinary training in New Orleans, LA. For the past 23 years she personally trained, shared her passion & mentored her nephew, Elliot & Patricia his wife with their catering business Events By Elliot and Patricia. Her presence is and will be severely missed by Elliot, Patricia and their son, Eyan but her spirit and legacy will live on through all of the wonderful flavors that she has left them to share with the world.
She was formerly married to the late Bobby Joe Edwards Sr. and to this union four children were born, Lisa, Bobby Jr., Patricia and Lynettea. On July 6, 2001, she married the late James Jim Bushnell and was a devoted and dedicated wife until his death.
She was preceded in death by her father, Whitney Celestine Sr., her husband James Jim Bushnell; two children, Lisa Edwards and Bobby Edwards Jr.; two sisters, Virginia Griffin and Carolyn Gum and one brother, Darrell Celestine, Sr.
Those left to cherish her memories are her dear mother, Mary Celestine; two daughters, Patricia (Carnell) Stevenson and Lynettea (Robert) Johnson; seven siblings, Jimmy (Cat) Celestine, Whitney Celestine, Jr., Ronald Celestine, Perry Celestine, Anthony (Angela) Celestine, Catherine Celestine and Angela Celestine all of Lake Charles, LA; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one godchild, Brittany Bertrand and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Orange Grove Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
