IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha Elaine
Collins-Auzenne
August 12, 1961 – January 15, 2025
Bertha Elaine Collins-Auzenne was born on August 12, 1961, to the late Thelma Nell Washington Collins and Millard Collins of Jonesville, LA. God in His infinite wisdom and timing, called her home on January 15, 2025. Upon graduating from Marion High School in 1979, Bertha enrolled in Sowela Vocational School in 1981 where she earned a diploma in License Practical Nursing. In 1992, she was awarded an Associate of Nursing Degree from Louisiana State University (Eunice). Bertha was blessed with a rewarding year career at Walter Olin Moss Regional Hospital and retired in September of 2012. To this day, Bertha is known for being an expert in oncology nursing and many of her patients, former co-workers, and medical doctors still praise her knowledge, skills, and kindness.
Of all the decisions a person will make in life, "where will I spend eternity" is the most important. It is with certainty that Bertha made it known where she will spend eternity. She professed her faith in Christ alone as her Lord and Savior publicly on many occasions. Growing up in Greater St. Mary Baptist and later Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church laid a sure foundation for her Christian faith. Under the pastoral leadership of Freddie Brown, Sr. of New Providence Baptist Church, she continued to practice her faith. Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family and made holidays a lot more joyful. Her generosity and love for her family and friends will be treasured by all who have the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Wayne Joseph Auzenne, husband of 23 years, son Jaylin Thomas Collins-Auzenne, stepson Wayne Joseph Auzenne, Jr, siblings Auddie Kay Collins, Kandy A. Collins, Randy L. Collins, and Penny D. Collins; siblings-in-law: Kenneth (Renae) Auzenne, Dianna (Carl) Godly, Darlene Auzenne, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Thelma Nell Washington and Millard Collins; siblings, Marvis O'Neal Collins, Connie Collins-Griffith and Millard D. Collins and brother-in-law, Gilbert "Gibby" Auzenne. As we remember Bertha, we celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-shared, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
