Bettie Jean Wilkins, 74, a life-long resident of Westlake, Louisiana, was born on January 19, 1944 to Zadie Watkins and Lemon Watkins in Washington, Louisiana. She passed from this life into her heavenly home on July 11, 2018.

Mrs. Wilkins was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved hosting and cooking for family on any occasion. She was employed at Jake Drost Head Start and the Isle of Capri for many years. She was also a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church Westlake, Louisiana.

Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Zadie Palms and Mr. John Palms (stepfather); Mr. Lemon Watkins (father); Mr. Gus Wilkins (husband); Mrs. Shirley M. Shepherd (sister); and Mrs. Josie M. Barber (sister).

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Brittany Wilkins; a sister, Willa Kelley (Lloyd) of Houston, Texas; brothers Reverend James Watkins (Miriam) of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Darryll Palms (Odessa) of Houston, Texas; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 1:30 p.m., at King's Funeral Home.
