Betty Jean Chavis, 73, departed this life on Friday, February 5, 2016, in Lake Charles Care Center.  She was born July 13, 1942, to the late Wilford Broussard and Augustine Sampa Broussard in Louisberg, Louisiana.

She was a lifelong life member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was employed at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, La.  Betty was a loving, sweet person who never met a stranger.  She loved to dance, fish, and cook for her family.  She was a member of the Senior Light House Group and Rosary Group.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Louis Chavis, Jr., two sons, Kevin (Patricia) Chavis and Jonathan (Linda) Chavis; six brothers, Joseph, Wilford, Gerald, Ronald, Donald, and Darrell Broussard; one sister, Joyce Semien; five grandchildren, Jessica Chavis, Cody Chavis, Mason Chavis, Ashley Chavis and Leslie Chavis; three great grandchildren, Karter Goodson, Kamorie Goodson and Deniyah Chavis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Broussard and Augustine Sampa Broussard and two sisters, Gustavia Edward and Geraldine Doucet.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 8:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home with a Rosary at 9:00 a.m., and Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
