Byron LaTrez Harris (B1) was born on January 15, 1976 in Tacoma, Washington to James and Linda Harris.
Byron accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK by Pastor Benjamin W. Noble, where he sang in the young adult and boys' choir. Byron was very active in the District, State, Regional, and National Baptist Association where he delivered many messages professing his passion for Christ. During the summer, you could find Byron at various church camps, Upward Bound College Programs and managing his business; B3 Lawn Services.
Byron was also a model student, shining the love of the Lord all over the campus. He was well known and loved by all who met him. Byron was a member of the R.O.T.C. and Teens for Christ. He was also involved in several athletic organizations including wrestling, weight lifting, and a star of his pride and joy Muskogee Roughers, which he still represents.
Upon graduation, Byron began to work for the school board as a special education assistant, volunteering at the Salvation Army, and Candy Striper at the V.A. Hospital in Muskogee.
On January 1, 2000, Byron united in holy matrimony with Kristie Lynn Ball. From this union, one daughter was born, Isabella Janay. After moving to DeQuincy, Byron united with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon-in-training.
Byron was a carpenter and general maintenance man by trade and had enjoyed employment with both Turner Industries of Sulphur, LA and most recently PRIDE Industries in Leesville, LA. During his tenure at PRIDE, Byron received numerous awards and recognition for safety, exceptional customer service, and employee improvement.
Byron was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His love for family and friends will never be forgotten. Byron leaves to mourn his wife of 12 years, Kristie Lynn Harris; one daughter, Isabella Janay Harris; Godson, DeAndre (D.J.) Frank; parents, Rev. James and Linda Harris; one sister, Raven Harris; two brothers, Brandon (Carla) Harris and Braylon (Jasmine) Harris; Godparents, Terrell Banks, Sr. and Cathy Jones; and maternal grandmother, Geraldine Banks. Byron also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
