On November 2, 2014, Charlene Marie Manuel went home to be with the Lord at the age of 59. She was born on October 23, 1955, to Eugene and Lula Mae Manuel in Lake Charles, La. She was the sixth born out of ten children. Charlene was a graduate of Washington High School in 1975. She worked with home health agencies for many years until she retired. After her retirement, she led a prayer group and was an inspirational speaker for many years. Charlene can best be described as a giver. She was always there for family and friends whether it was for a hot meal, a place to stay or for laughter, she would offer a helping hand. Charlene opened her home to many and recognized Derrick Gibson and Aubrey Jones as her sons. She was well loved and respected up until the time of her death. She leaves to cherish her memories, six brothers, Charles (Ethie) Manuel, of Baton Rouge, La., Edward Lee Manuel, and Joseph Manuel, of Lake Charles, La., James (Brenda) Manuel, of Lacassine, La., Christopher (Connie) Manuel, of Lake Charles, La., and Terrell (Renette) Manuel of Houston, TX; one sister, Glenda (Eugene) Robinson, Jr., of Lake Charles, La; godmother, Rene Jean, goddaughters, Caronda Taylor and Marquetta Victorian, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Manuel and Lula Mae Dartez Manuel; sister, Brenda Manuel Jack; brother, Kenneth Ray Manuel and sister-in-law, Brenda Manuel.
