Obituary

December 23, 2016, Charles Kermit Jacobs departed his life's journey surrounded by members of his family.

An avid hunter, fisherman, archer, and amazing cook, Charles was born January 8, 1954, in Bunkie, Louisiana to the late Charles Lee Jacobs and Thelma Jamerson Jacobs. At an early age, he was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Horace Allison. He was a 1972 graduate of W. O. Boston High School, Lake Charles, LA. and Atlantic School of Airline and Travel Training, Inglewood, CA. Upon graduation, he went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Washington, DC. Sometime later, Charles moved back home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Julie Evans, and to that union two sons were born, Joel Patrick and Christopher Paul. After working briefly for Firestone, he became a firefighter with the Lake Charles Fire Department where he received firefighter and HAZMAT training at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, as well as Louisiana State University – Eunice Campus, Eunice, LA. He retired after 29 years of service as captain with the Lake Charles Fire Department.

Upon retirement, Charles became a property inspector for the city of Shreveport, LA before moving to Columbus, OH where he met and married Robin Eason.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lee Jacobs and mother, Thelma Jamerson Jacobs; maternal grandparents, Russell James Jamerson I and Mamie Hayward Jamerson, and paternal grandparents, Paul Wiltz Jacobs, Sr and Julia Brinkley Jacobs.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Robin Eason-Jacobs of Blacklick, OH; two sons, Joel Patrick (Erin) Jacobs of Richmond, TX and Christopher Paul (Jessica) Jacobs of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Donovan, Jazmyn, Devin, Jadon and Jacqueline Jacobs; two sisters, Claudia Jacobs Williams of Lake Charles, LA and Rene Jacobs (Lee)Green of Ocean Springs, MS; three nieces, Brandi Williams (Steve) Pennington of Riverdale, GA, Brittany Erin Green of Houston, TX, and Alexandra Renee Green of Birmingham, AL; one stepson, Ryan Garrett of Blacklick, OH as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2016, at 11:00 am, New Life Church International, 3000 E. Gauthier Rd., Lake Charles, LA.
