Clayton Joseph Chavis , 72, departed this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at a hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.  He was born August 14, 1948, to Louis Chavis and Valentine Richard Chavis in Opelousas, LA.  He was an operator at Conoco Chemical Plant and the City of Lake Charles until his retirement.

He leaves to cherish three daughters, Yosha Cynclay Chavis, Hazel Euntrica House and Demetrese Price; two sons, Damien Price and Nehemiah Chavis all of Lake Charles, LA; three brothers, James (Ruby) Chavis, Louis Chavis, Jr., and Joseph (Emelda) Chavis all of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters, Mary Louise Darjean of Beaumont, TX, Vernadine Chavis and Barbara Ringo both of Lake Charles, LA; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Valentine Chavis; three sisters, Nellie Sam, Mary Guillory and Irma Cade; two brothers, Herman Chavis and Robert Lee Chavis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 10:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home.
