Clinson Slaughter, Sr., 85, departed this life on June 13, 2016, in Lake Charles, La. He was born September 26, 1930, in Ville Platte, La., to the late Remie and Mary Semien Slaughter.
He was a long time resident of Lake Charles, La, and a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #193 and American Legion Post #551. He was a truck driver for many years with Southern Furniture Company in Lake Charles, La.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Virginia Chatman Slaughter; two sons, Vincent Slaughter of Houston, TX and Chris (Kazma) Chatman of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Stephanie (Walter) Houston of Lake Charles, LA; three grandchildren, Santana (Marcus) Brown, Caleb Houston and Shakrihia Chatman of London, England; two great grandchildren, Marcus and Malik Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Remie and Mary Slaughter; three sons, Linton Slaughter, Clinson Slaughter, Jr., and Anthony Chatman; five sisters, Ezora, Cecelia, Hattie, Yola and Ella; and four brothers, Hosea, Winnie, Issac, and Roy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home, Apostle Uneeda Beverly and Pastor Lee Wilson, officiating. Burial will be in Central LA Veterans Cemetery, 3348 University Parkway, Leesville, LA 71446, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
