Danyell Leron Turner, 49, departed this life on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was born February 14, 1976, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Lee Earl Turner and Marie Turner.
Known affectionately to everyone as "D-Turner", Danyell was full of life, laughter and had an infectious spirit that brightened any room he walked in. He adored his family and supported each of his siblings in every adventure they dared to try. Making others smile was his greatest joy—even if sometimes he pushed a little hard, it was always with the purest intention and a heart full of love.
Danyell held a special place in his heart for his daughter and grandson, who meant the world to him. His faith community at Refuge Temple Ministries in Lake Charles played an important role in his life, and he loved his church family dearly.
Everyone who met Danyell remembers his vibrant personality, overflowing with joy, humor and resilience. Even after life took a difficult turn following a major auto accident in 2023, Danyell continued to push forward with strength and determination. As a miracle survivor of that accident, he embraced each day as a gift, striving to live life to the very best of his ability.
Danyell was preceded in death by his sister, La'Keisha Romas Ames; grandmothers, Martha Turner and Evelina Spears; grandfathers, Hebert Dupar and O'neal Evans; great-grandmothers Leasther Harrell Turner and Julia Wheeler; and great-grandfathers Henry Turner, Sr. and Johnnie Wheeler.
Danyell leaves a legacy of love and precious memories with his loving parents, Lee and Marie Romas Turner; daughter, Amber Terrell; grandson, Aiden Terrell; brother, Kinshasa Romas, Sr. and sister, Kizzy Broaden (Terry); nephews, Denzel Rolax (Hannah), Kevin Ames Jr, and Kinshasa Romas, Jr Detrick Romas, Koi Ames; nieces, Kiana Ames, Zoe Broaden, and Zai Broaden; great niece, Khia Romas; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and church family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Refuge Temple Ministries in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 AM.
