Darius Matthew Edwards , 22, departed this life on Thursday, April 7, 2016.  He was born June 3, 1993, in Lake Charles, LA to Murphy and Fulose Edwards.  He was a 2011 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX.

Darius was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball and track.  His athletic career was cut short due to an injury.  He will truly be missed by family, friends and the community of Lake Charles, LA, and Prairie View, TX.

He leaves to cherish his parents, Murphy and Fulose Edwards; his only son, Zaire Matthew Edwards and his son's mother, Jasmine Thomas; two brothers, Murphy (Tritia) Edwards, Jr., and Peter (Candyce) Edwards; one sister, Shomeka (Kevin) Edwards-Ware; honorary sister, Shanita Gardiner; five nephews, Travante, Christian, Kollin, Cayden and Camryn Edwards; four nieces, Justice, Skylar, Parker, Kennadi and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hayward and Francis Edwards; maternal grandparents, Peter and Julia Moore, and one niece, Karleigh Ware.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Baptist Church, 1800 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, La., Pastor Braylon Harris officiating.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
