Darnell Marie Leday , 75, departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.  She was born November 2, 1947, to Batmas Leday, Sr., and Reetha Malveau in Lafayette, LA.  She owned and operated Darnell's Beauty Salon for many years.

She was quiet-spirited but very outspoken if necessary.  She loved gardening, shopping, thrifting, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She had a passion for doing hair and loved eating out.  She was always well dressed and stylish.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Ron (Alice) Lavine of Clovis, CA, Stacey (Howard) Sherman of Pearland TX and Kim (Willie) Dartez of KOP, PA; her siblings, Batmas Leday, Sr., of Westlake, LA and Sara Drake of Lake Charles, LA;  six grandchildren, Jonathan Lavine, Jana Lavine, Meagan Sherman, Jordan Sherman, Carrington Sherman and Patrick Pouchie; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Batmas Leday, Sr., and Reetha Malveau; one sister, Debra Malveau and three brothers, Warren Malveau, John Malveau and Allen Leday.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home.
