David Gatson , 71, departed this life on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at his residence in DeRidder, Louisiana.  He was born on September 18, 1945, to the late Leroy and Bessie Gatson in Temple, Louisiana.

David Gatson graduated from Carver High School in DeRidder, Louisiana, and served in the United States Army.  He married Jeanie Marie Deshotel and from this union a family was born. He was quiet and thoughtful, loved to read and discuss politics.  He worked at Boise Cascade for many years until his retirement.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two children, Samuel K. Gatson, (Ayanna) and Eboni D. Gatson both of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Malari Williams, Dominic Jordan and Kameren Gatson; two great grandchildren, Jazelle Williams and Gianna Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Marie Deshotel Gatson; his parents, Leroy and Bessie Gatson; one sister, Bessie Gatson and two brothers, Jesse Gatson and Ervin Gatson, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Freddie Brown, officiating. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
