Obituary

Everyone has a choice between leaving a positive legacy or a negative one. Most people never consciously choose one or the other — it just happens. But the goal for us is to make a conscious decision about the legacy we will leave. Legacy, by far, is not bound by age nor by time served. Instead, it represents your body of work at each stage of your life. it grows with you each time you inspire others to do something significant. Your leadership is not shaped and your legacy is not defined at the end of the road but rather by the moments shared, the decisions made, the actions taken, and even the mistakes overcome throughout the many phases of your life. Dedrick, at the tender age of 23, has left a legacy for many, young and old, that will not soon be forgotten. We will cherish and celebrate his very existence until eternal's end.

On May 1, 1995 Dedrick Deondre Chantlin Cole was born in Lake Charles, LA to Rachel Chantlin. At age 3 God richly blessed him and his siblings to he introduced to, loved and held by the tender arms of Hester Cole and family. She opened up her heart and home, adopting them in 2002.

Dedrick was vivacious and success driven from a young age. He attended Oberlin Elementary and High Schools. He was an active member of SADD, FCCLA, FBLA, and the BETA club. He also played basketball for the varsity team and ran track. After graduating high school in 2014 he moved to Pineville, LA to attend Louisiana College where he studied Criminal Justice. He was all about business. While being a full-time student and maintaining honor grades, he secured full-time employment. Dedrick worked at Dominoes in Pineville. LA, Big Sky Steakhouse- Coushatta Casino in Kinder and "Oh Taste and See" Restaurant, both in Kinder, LA. Recently he was sworn in to the National Guard. He was preparing to leave for basic training on May 7, 2019. After basic training it was his plan to complete his final semester at Louisiana College and enroll in Law School. To become a lawyer was his dream and he worked tirelessly to fulfill that dream.

Hallelujah! Dedrick loved the Lord. He was an active member of True Faith Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Pastor David L. Wolfe. There he revelled in praise and devotion in singing in the choir and expressing his adoration for God in worship through dance. He was blessed with the gift of praise dance and shared it with many, not only in eformances but also in teaching. His est for praise shined brightly Arough him and the countless umber of kids and adults he taught. While searching for perfection in performances, Dedrick's main mission was giving God the glory! His patience and acceptance drew people to him, making them as excited as he was to praise God. He began mime dancing then started instructing S.T.R.O.N.G, (Striving To .each Others Needing God). He Ater formed S.W.A.G, (Saved With amazing Grace). He also iniated And was very proud to be a part of Dedrick and the Christianettes, KOTK, (Kids Of The Kingdom) and Christian Brothers and Sisters Club. He was passionate about his dance. He gave it his all. He not only wanted you to "see" the performances, but to feel it in your spirit. Far more often than not, his missions were accomplished!

Praise God! Dedrick has now been rewarded for his faithfulness. With his warm, loving spirit he forged life-long friendships with most everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He has left many to cherish his memory; among which is his devoted mother, Hester Cole; his siblings, Ammie Cole, Eric Cole (Ramona), Jason Cole (Kristi), Eric A. Everyone must leave something behind when they die. It does not matter what you do so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it. In the span of 23 years, Dedrick has inspired and left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Though his journey is over, we continue to feel his love and will forever carry on his mission of serving God througi any means possible. Amen
