Delphine Hayes Young was born on November 16, 1924 to Rufus and Irene Lyons Hayes in Thornwell, Louisiana. She was the eighth of ten children. She was reared and educated in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She married Rosco R. Young on November 21, 1942, and to this union, ten children were born.
Delphine was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the early fifties and attended regularly until her health failed.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-two (62) years, Rosco; eight daughters, Loretta Y. Richard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Carolyn (Forest) Mouton of Sarah, Mississippi, Sheela (Bob) Thibodeaux of Port Arthur, Texas, Edna (Joseph) Thomas of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Deborah (Larry) Henderson of Beaumont, Texas, Vanetta (Steve) Chapman of Isa Bel, Oklahoma, Georgia and Sharon Young, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sons, Robert (Dawn) Young of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Ronald (Mary) Young of Dequincy, Louisiana.
Also cherishing her memories are two sisters, Georgia (Dalton) Trahan and Alberta Miller, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one brother, Oliver Hayes of Los Angeles, California; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Miller, Carrie Bankett, Isabella (Claudia) Busby, Lille (Michael) Martin, and Eseleaner Holland; one brother-in-law, Daniel (Mickey) Young; twenty-six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
