Obituary

Dexter Simon, a very loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was born on Tuesday, November 11, 1958, to the late Janie Simon (Albert) Pattum and Burnis Harmon in Lafayette Louisiana. He was the oldest of three children. Dexter was raised in Welsh where to everyone he was well known and to everyone he was known as "Goon".

God saw Dexter getting weak and tired so on the morning of Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 6:35 a.m, God called him to his eternal home.

Dexter attended school at Bethune High and after integration he went to Welsh High. He lived in Welsh most of his life. In 1990 he moved to Fayetteville NC with his brother Lionel for 2 years and while there he worked in the restaurant business. After returning home he later worked for Electrocon Construction for 2 years. Dexter "Goon" will be greatly missed in the town of Welsh because he was a people person.  He went around town and visited with everyone.

He leaves to carry on his legacy two daughters, Cyntisha (Rocky) Jackson of Lake Charles LA and Cyntonya Prudhomme of Houston TX; two sons, Dexter Prudhomme and Derrick (Rakeitha Alfred) Prudhomme Sr. of Welsh LA; six grandchildren, Roche Jackson, Mykel Guillory, Dataviah Prudhomme, Cyn'dreika Jackson, Rochelle Jackson, Derrick Prudhomme Jr.

To cherish his memories, he leaves his father, Burnis (Irma) Harmon, two brothers, Lionel (Verna) Simon of Potts, MS and Reginald Harmon of Welsh LA; His sister-in-law Racheal Gries of Welsh LA, half brother, Albert Pattum Jr of Lake Charles LA and half sister, Carmon (Albert) Malbrough of Welsh LA; three aunts, Brenda Mosses, Wanda Moore and Wanda Thibodeaux. Great Uncle Bobby Vital of Welsh LA and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; two very special true friends, Donald Prudhomme and Robert Moore. They were always at the nursing home seeing about him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church, Welsh, LA.  Burial will be in Eastridge Cemetery, Welsh, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
