Douglas Charles , 76, departed this life on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at his place of residence in Lake Charles, LA.  He was born on January 17, 1941, to Heard Charles and Lillian Johnson Charles in Youngsville, LA.  He was a truck driver in beverage sales with Coca-Cola Bottling Company until his retirement.  He enjoyed fishing, going to the casinos and watching television as his favorite pastime.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Babbie Landry, Kenneth Charles, Pauline Charles and Mark Charles all of Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Helena Thomas of Broussard LA; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Heard and Lillian Charles, his wife, Algee Charles, three brothers, Solomon Charles, Robert Charles, and Russell Charles; two sisters, Verna Landry and Helen Jones.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home and funeral service on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., at St. James Methodist Church in Youngsville, LA, Rev. Charles L. Rochester, Sr., officiating.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
