Eddie James Thomas , was born September 9, 1952, to the late Artellus Thomas, Jr. and Ernestine Anderson Thomas. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. On September 21, 2016, God called him to his eternal home. He was united in holy matrimony to Jessie Allison. This union produced three children.
Eddie James Thomas graduated from James Stephens High School in 1970. He studied at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. from 1970-1972. After leaving Southern University he volunteered for military service where he served from 1972—1976. After his tour of duty with the military he held several different jobs until becoming an employee of the United States Postal Service where he worked until he retired in 2008.
He leaves to mourn his four children, Rico Doucet, Moneaka Thomas (Travis), Alexsus Thomas and Isaiah Thomas; five brothers, Arthur Thomas of Baton Rouge, La., George Thomas (Kristi) of Lake Charles, La., Lionel Thomas (Mary) of Ville Platte, La., John Thomas of Lake Charles, La., Hebert Thomas off Houston, TX; five sisters, Brenda Evans of Houston, TX, Beulah Thomas (Joseph) of Lake Charles, La., Veronica Brown of Houston, TX, Christine Johnson (Murry) San Angelo, TX, Deborah Williams (Cleve) of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Makayla Simien of Opelousas, Lamontae Myers, of Lake Charles, La., Angel Allison, Mamou, La., LaTavia Myers, Lake Charles, La., and MaKhia Love, Lake Charles, La., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Artellus Thomas and Ernestine A. Thomas; his wife Jessie Thomas; three brothers Leroy A. Mouton (Pop), Albert R. Thomas (Punch) and Mack Lindsay (Head) Thomas.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at The New Shiloh Baptist Church, Minister Joseph Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
