On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, Edna Edwards Guidry departed this life at the age of 85 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1929 to the late Lewis and Ludella Edwards. She leaves to mourn her five children: Evelyn (LeRoy, Jr.) Winbush, Pastor Mary (Jerome) Ringo, Alton Guidry, Jr., Paula (Martin) Stevens and Kevin (Michelle) Guidry. She leaves nine grandchildren: Christopher Winbush, David (Selena) Winbush, Brittany (Navar) Pete, Timothy (Jonique) Stevens, Rick Guidry, Joshua Stevens, Kayla Guidry, Tayla Richards, and Khristian Guidry; her two great-grandchildren Davin Lee-Stevens and Hailey Pete. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, godchildren, loved ones and friends. She was always an active member in her church, being an ordained deaconess serving for over 45 years under various pastors. She was a dedicated servant in various ministries such as the Ambassadors of Praise Choir, Saints of Praise Dance Team, Caring and Sharing Ministry, and was the Mother of the Church at Faith Vision Ministries. She was the matriarch of the HiMount Community where she was thoroughly involved in the lives of her neighbors by mentoring, counseling, and offering spiritual guidance. She shared her love of preparing home cooked meals with the sick or bereaved families in her community for over eight decades. Because of her example of community compassion, the HiMount community will hold annual reunions remembering the spirit of "Edna Mae" in all they do. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ethel Lewis and Helen Butler; and brothers David, Hardy, Herman, Walter, and Lewis Edwards, Jr. Visitation will be Friday, March 13th at King's Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m, with a time for tributes from 6 til 8 p.m. There will be a final viewing at King's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14th from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Mother Guidry's Homegoing Celebration will be at Faith Vision Ministries, located at 8000 Frontage Road, Iowa, on Saturday, March 14th at 2 p.m. Pastor Mary Guidry-Ringo will officiate. Interment will be at HiMount Cemetary in Lake Charles under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
