Reverend Edward Blue, Sr., 79, departed this life on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA . He was born on November 11, 1936, to the late Sam and Eliza Tippit Blue on a sharecropper's farm in Meeker, LA. He was the fifth child of eight children.

Rev. Blue relocated to Lake Charles, LA, with his parents and siblings in 1944. He worked as a construction worker, industrial and commercial, in Lake Charles and Flint, MI. He also worked as a longshoreman and a Calcaseiu Parish school crossing guard.

On October 21, 1961, he met and married Mary Marva Ford and became a loving father of four children. He was reared in a God-fearing home and accepted Christ at an early age. He has served faithfully and happily with his Pastor, Rev. Lee Wilson at Riverside Baptist Church as an ordained associate minister.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Mary Marva Blue; four children, Mrs. Yolonda Chatman (John) of Flint, MI, Ms. Edwina Marie Blue of Lake Charles, LA, SFC Edward Blue, Jr. (Sharon) of Baltimore, MD, and Mr. Jimmy Lee Bellard of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Blue Sam and Mrs. Louise Blue Benoit (Riley), both of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Eliza Blue; two brothers, Sam Blue, Jr., and Jimmy Lee Blue; three sisters, Eary Goins, Nettie Sutton and Mattie Brignac.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at New Light Baptist Church, 2514 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA, Pastor Lee Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
