Mr. Edward Charles, 79, passed away at 12:22 am on Saturday, June 12, 2010. He was born to Joseph and Bertha Gradnigo Charles on September 25, 1930, in Leonville, Louisiana.
Mr. Charles was a resident of Mossville, Louisiana for 54 years. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and the Knights of Peter Claver. He was employed at Stephen Plumbing for many years before he became a self-employed licensed plumber.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rose Clark Charles of Mossville, Louisiana; his children Joseph (Pasqualina) Charles of Lake Charles, Wayne Charles of Humble, Texas, Patricia (Hayward) Prudhomme, and Kathy Jones, both of Lake Charles. He also leaves two brothers, James (Agnes) Charles of Mossville, and Fredrick (Virginia) Charles of Ragley, LA, two sisters, Verna Gardiner of Opelousas, LA, and Margaret Guillory of Lafayette, LA; his grandchildren, Jarvis Jones, Justin Jones, Raven Ceasar, Jovan Charles, Jonathan Charles, and Hayward Prudhomme; great-grandchildren, Morgan Crosby, Jakyla Garrett, and Natalie Jones; aunt Mary Charles; uncles, Melton Gradnigo, and David Gradnigo, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Bertha Gradnigo Charles, and two brothers, Rogers and Louis Charles.
His funeral will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 19, 2010, in St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, 7:00 am-9:00 am at King's Funeral Home and 10:00 am-12:30 pm at the church, with a Rosary recited at Noon.
