Obituary

Edward Anthony Olivier , 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 15, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a loving husband and father with an incredible faith and devotion to St. Joseph, his patron saint.

The youngest of eight children, Edward was born on October 5, 1931, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to his parents James Olivier and Mathilda Rochon Olivier. He attended Sacred Heart School and was an altar server at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Henry Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army from January 1952 to September 1953 and was a Korean War Veteran.

Edward retired from Cities Service (Citgo) after 42 years of employment. He was a father, husband, provider, mentor, gardener, and a true patriarch of the family. He had an incredible faith in God and believed strongly in the power of prayer. He will be remembered for his lifelong daily attendance to the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, his strong faith and devotion to the Holy Rosary, the unity of family, the importance of friends, his unique sense of humor, and regular gatherings under the carport with friends!

Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edolia Rena Foote Olivier of 56 years of marriage; his parents, James and Mathilda Olivier; two brothers, Herbert Olivier, Sr., The Most Reverend Bishop Leonard Olivier, S.V.D.; four sisters, Leola Marchand, Verna Abrams, Velma Boutte, and Earline Olivier.

Those left to cherish his memory are one loving sister, Theresa Olivier of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one revered son, Gregory Olivier of New Orleans, Louisiana; three daughters, Elena Olivier of Houston, Texas; Renee Olivier of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Antoinette Olivier of       Dallas, Texas; cherished nieces and nephews; and other relatives, godchildren, and friends. He will be truly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, at 8:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
