Elena Johnson Wallace, 87, departed this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Lake Charles, LA. She was born February 6, 1936, to Jerry Johnson and Helen Montigue in Melville, LA.

Mrs. Elena attended Southern University at New Orleans to become a teacher. She taught at James Lewis Elementary School. Because of her love for children, she opened and operated her own Nursery School at home caring for children in the community and giving them a nurturing environment. She attended Peck United Methodist Church and later worshipped at Wesley United Methodist Church in New Orleans, LA. She nurtured her family and had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door was always opened to her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends and anyone she could offer help to.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Toni Paternostro of New Orleans, LA , Pamela Johnson of Lake Charles, LA, Joy Wallace, Joel Wallace, June Wallace and Michael Wallace all of Bay St. Louis, MS; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wallace, Sr; her dear companion and friend, Johnny Paternostro; her siblings, Eloise Stampley, McKinley Brown, Jake Paul, Vincent Johnson, Frank Brown and Kenner Johnson; one granddaughter, Elena Rochelle Magee and three sons, Jeffery P. Wallace, John Anthony Pasternostro and Johnny Wallace, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at New Covenant Faith Baptist Church, Rev. Jimmy R. Stevens, officiating. A private burial will follow on Monday, November 27, 2023, in St. Roch Cemetery in New Orleans, LA under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
