July 14, 1936 – August 30, 2005
Ellen Simon Landry was born in Chloe, Louisiana on July 14, 1936 to Hart and Elzina Simon. She was baptized early in life and became a member of Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. W. C. Clark. She united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church under Rev. Sidney Fontenot and later returned to Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Edward Alexander, Jr. until she departed this life on August 30, 2005.
Sis. Ellen was united in Holy Matrimony to Wilson Landry and to this union, one son and two daughters were born.
Sis. Landry retired from One-Hour Martinizing and later was employed at Jean Lafitte for numerous years. She was a foster grandmother for Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Landry; mother, Elzina Simon; father, Hart Simon; her grandson, Bradley Toussand, one brother, Roosevelt Simon; two sisters, Doretha Pete and Elrentha Noel.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her three children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Barbara N. Landry of Las Vegas, Neveda; Debra (Michael) Celestine of Houston, Texas, and Donald (Vanessa) Landry of Lake Charles, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Murphy Simon and Mose Simon of Port Arthur, Texas; six sisters, Semonia Noel, Rosa Lee Simon, and Rose Simon, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Edmonia Schexnider, Aline Moore, and Willie Mae Rachelle, all of Houston, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
