IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eloise
Williams
January 3, 1931 – October 30, 2020
A homegoing service for Eloise Augusta Williams who entered eternal rest on October 30, 2020 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX, after complications of a stroke will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
Eloise Augusta was born January 3, 1931, in St. Martinville, LA to Curtis and Laura Thomas Augusta. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles and was presently residing in Houston, TX. Eloise, affiliated with Mount Olive Baptist Church, was a member of the choir and mission for many years, later uniting with Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edward Alexander.
As a young woman, Eloise married Charles Williams and together they had one son, Jerry Williams. After the marriage dissolved, she would later have five other children, Johnny, Laura, Margie, Anthony, and Betty. Throughout her life, she worked hard to provide for her children. Her work history included housekeeping for Dr. Hebert, a Lake Charles dentist, and the Guth family. She later worked for Gibson Sel-Mart, Hardees and Wendy's restaurant. She loved serving and talking to the customers and they loved her. She enjoyed working and rarely ever missed work. The only time she did not work was in 1975 when she stayed in New Orleans to be with her youngest daughter who had a serious illness. During 2005 Hurricane Rita, Eloise had surgery for a knee injury. Reluctantly, she retired at age 75.
After retirement, she cared for her son, Johnny. She later moved to Houston to live with her two daughters, Margie, her care-taker and Betty, her 'baby'. Her time was spent reading her bible, working in 'her book' (Word Search), and watching her favorite program, 'Law and Order'.
Eloise was a generous person who donated to many charities for children, her favorite was Save the Children. Her generous spirit resulted in her having many 'adopted grandchildren' whose pictures filled her bedroom wall, alongside her natural grandchildren.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Augusta; aunts and uncles, Viola and Aldosia Hampton, Bertha and Elijah Perry; brother, Curtis Augusta Jr.; sister, Mary Boney; sons, Jerry Williams, Anthony Augusta, and Johnny Augusta; great grandson, Anthony C. Augusta III; son-in-law Gary Stringfellow, and nephew, Joseph Michael Augusta.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Augusta; daughters, Laura (Gerald) Nelson; Margie Augusta, and Betty Stringfellow; grandchildren, Gerald Nelson Jr. (Pearl), Jerry Williams Jr., Clarence Williams, Doris Williams, Nichole Key, Demetria Woolridge, Anthony Augusta Jr. Rick Augusta, Irene Perry-Madison, Johnny Augusta Jr, and Jayla Augusta. She is also survived by 30 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, favorite niece Frances Woods, the Starlard family, and other relatives and friends.
