Emily Ann Bilbo lovingly known to some as “Big Mama” or “Aunt Em” passed away at the age of 66 on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Landmark of Lake Charles. She was born on January 29, 1960, in Jennings, Louisiana to the late James C. Bilbo and Mary Margaret Dartez-Bilbo, and remained a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Emily was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a proud graduate of Marion High School, Class of 1978. After completing her education, she pursued cosmetology and later began working at a local refinery.
Emily found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—hosting lively family card games, playing bingo, visiting casinos and enjoying her favorite foods (with a well-known dislike for anything green). Above all, Emily loved and cherished her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride. She poured her heart into her grandchildren, always putting them first and making sure they felt loved, supported, and cared for. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness, where everyone knew they were welcome.
Emily leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Felicia Ann Godson and Shayla Bilbo-Chretien; sons, Henry Chretien, Raymond (Chelsea) Chretien, Sr., and Miracle Chretien, all of Lake Charles; four sisters, Matilda (Dr. Charles) Green-White of Lake Charles, Linda Spencer, Pat Carmen, and Carolyn Bilbo all of Houston, Texas; four brothers, James Bilbo, Jr., Melvin Green of Houston, Texas, Jewel Green, and Clivis “Beadie” Green of Lake Charles; her beloved ten grandchildren: Henry Chretien, Jr., Me’ja Price, Messiah Chretien, Kinglyn Roscoe, Jadavion Williams, Kaden Mathews, Raymond Chretien, Jr., Iliana Chretien, Eliza Chretien, and Xaiyden Bilbo-Chretien, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Emily is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Nortley and Arment Dartez and paternal grandparents Lymon and Mattie Bilbo; both of her parents, James C. Bilbo and Mary Margaret Dartez-Bilbo; sisters Geneva Marie Brignac, Virginia Ann Bilbo-Brignac and her brother, Albert Pattum Jr.
A celebration of Emily’s life will be held on Friday, April 24 beginning with Visitation at 10:00am and Memorial Services at 11:00am at King’s Funeral Home Chapel.
