Celebrating the Life of Emily Lorine Davis Landry
March 26, 1955 – July 16, 2026
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:6
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, Emily Lorine Davis Landry, affectionately known as “Lorine” and lovingly called “Auntie” by many, entered eternal rest in Metairie, Louisiana, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 71 years old.
Lorine was born on March 26, 1955, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Albert Paul Davis and Sylvia Rose Davis. She was baptized at Christian Baptist Church, where she stayed an active member throughout her childhood. After moving to Washington State, she later returned to Louisiana and united with Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, followed by Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Lorine graduated from W.O. Boston High School in 1973. Later in life, she moved to Kenner, Louisiana, where she lived with her beloved twin sister and family. She became a watchcare member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Leroy A. Taylor. There she was warmly embraced by her church family and supported the Mission Department. A woman of unwavering faith, Lorine was devoted to reading her Bible and daily devotionals early each morning. She found peace and joy in listening to gospel music and treasured spending time with family during gatherings and holiday celebrations.
Lorine was known for her gentle spirit, warm smile, kind heart, and encouraging words. She had a unique way of making those around her feel loved, welcomed, and appreciated. Her greatest joy came from her family, her faith, and the many relationships she nurtured throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Landry; her parents, Albert Paul Davis and Sylvia Rose Davis; her sister, Willie Yvonne Thomas; and her brother, Russell West.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children, Tyra (Kenneth) Antoine and Keena Landry; her adored grandchildren, Kenadie Antoine and Treyln Antoine, whom she loved with all her heart; her brother-in-law Charles Hall, and her devoted twin sister, Elma Corine Hall. The bond they shared was truly extraordinary. Lorine often said with a smile, “Whatever Co says, I’ll do!”—a reflection of the deep love and lifelong friendship they shared.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted friends, Everlee Bartie, Hilda Joubert, and Sam Hill Jr., whose love, friendship, and unwavering support were a true blessing throughout her life.
In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, classmates, and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, kindness, and beautiful memories she shared with each of them.
Her legacy of love, compassion, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM unto the start of the funeral at 11:00 AM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Combre Memorial Park. Services entrusted to King's Funeral Home.
