Obituary

Eric Alajawon Chantlin Cole , 23, was born August 12, 1996, in Lake Charles, LA to his birth mother, Rachel Chantlin and birth father, Eric Veazey. He was later adopted into the loving home of Hester L. Cole of Oberlin, LA.

Warmly known as "Perch", Eric was a statuesque, fun-loving guy. As a young boy he revelled in having a good time; joking around and playing pranks on family and friends. He went the extra mile to bring laughter and enjoyment.  He enjoyed the ocassional  role play and mimicking of those in his circle.

He was a member of True Faith Pentecostal Church, Oberlin, LA under the leadership of Pastor David L. Wolfe. He was a Sunday School attendant at a very young age. He also praise danced with the group S.W.A.G and was a part of the mime team. He was a member of Kids of the Kingdom and Christian Brother's and Sister's of Oberlin, LA.

He attended and graduated from Oberlin High School where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He worked at Walmart, Oakdale, LA and Coushatta Casino, Kinder, LA.

Eric left this earthly world in the pm hours of Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the Allen Parish Hospital in Kinder, LA. He will be greatly missed.

Remaining to cherish his memory is his devoted mother, Hester L. Cole, his birth mother and father, Rachel Chantlin and Eric Veazey; his siblings, Ammie, Eric (Romona), Jason (Kristi), Derrick, Brandon, LaChina, Pamela and Diamond; his grandmother, Louverneice Coco; his godparents, John E. Guillory and Royanna Ballard; four nieces, Chelsea (Paco), Carolyn (Floyd), Ciara and Halyn; two nephews, DaQuarius and Jonathan; and  his goddaughter, Alayah Richard. He looked to DaQuarius Brown, Hunter Carroll and "Lil" John Guillory as his special brothers. His girlfriend, Courtney Morehead, also will always remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Annie Mae Breacy; his aunts, Majorie Slate and Celemon Green; his brother, Dedrick Cole and his sister, ShaAsia Chantlin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at True Faith Pentecostal Church in Oberlin, LA, Pastor David L. Wolfe, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Oberlin, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
