Ernest John Simonet, Jr. "Pookie" began his journey on November 1, 1943 in Lake Charles, LA. He was the second child born to the union of the late Ernest Simonet, Sr. and Rena Landry Simonet. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Reverend James D. Sullivan. Ernest was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School in Lake Charles, LA. He expanded his education at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he worked as a Supply Specialist. His military career afforded him the opportunity to travel to various cities within the United States. Ernest was able to continue his education at Victor Valley Community College while simultaneously performing his duties of the United States Air Force at George Air Force Base in California. Due to complications with his health, his aspiration to grow his military career was shortened. At the time of retirement, Ernest achieved the rank of Sergeant.
In 1973, he married Mary Frank and to this union three children were born: Trina Evette, Catrina Renee, and Brian Keith.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Mary Frank Simonet; his mother, Rena Simonet; two daughters, Trina Green and her husband Kenneth Green, and Catrina Simonet; one son, Brian Simonet and his wife Melisa, all of Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Martha Richardson of Kennesaw, GA; three brothers, Kenneth Simonet and his wife Janice of Houston, TX, George Simonet and his wife Geraldine, and Douglas Simonet and his wife Carrie all of Lake Charles, LA; three granddaughters, Merissa, Kayla, and Brianna; one grandson, Jace; one great-grandson, Damien; one uncle, Ervin Simonet of Seattle, WA and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Simonet, Sr.
