Ethel Hebert January, 87 , was born on February 17, 1928, to the late Emily Jones and Henry Hebert. She lived in Cameron, Louisiana, until Hurricane Rita destroyed her home in 2005. She then relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana. On Monday, December 28, 2015, the Lord saw fit to call another angel home. She departed this earthly life with her children by her bedside.
Ethel was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cameron, Louisiana for many years. She served as a deaconess, the Mission President, and on various committees until she became displaced after Hurricane Rita. She served faithfully under the leaderships of the Rev. J.C. Vandyke, Rev. Enry Pradia, Rev. Kirby Alfred, and Rev. Willie Smith. She then joined Christ Bethel Fellowship in Lake Charles, Louisiana under the leadership of Pastor Joshua Mitchell where she continued to actively serve the Lord.
She was employed with the Louisiana Menhaden Plant for many years. She was a great cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved hats and shoes, and matching them with her outfits and purses. She was a wonderful person and was kind to all that she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emily Jones and Henry Hebert; her husband Arceneaux January, Sr.; two daughters Ethel Mae Yerby and Evon January; four sons Larry, Joe, Donald, and Arceneaux January, Jr.; a special grandson Kenneth Wayne January; one sister Betty Jean Moore; five brothers George Hebert, John Bartie, Lionel Moore, June Hebert, and Bernnel Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Henry January (Joyce) of Orlando, FL; Bernnel January, Sr. (Yuliana) of Morgan City, LA; Five daughters, Aline Druilhet, Mary January, and Eva January of Lake Charles, LA; Faye Spriggs (Donnie) of Mathews, VA; Emily January (Jerry) of Healthsville, VA; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Christ Bethel Fellowship Church, at 8:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Martin de Porres Cemetery in Cameron, Louisiana, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
