Eugene Anthony King, Sr. was born on December 19, 1952, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to the union of Willie Samuel King, Sr. and Margaret Lavine King. Eugene transitioned from his cherished earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 9:09 AM in his residence at the age of 73.
Eugene’s athletic endeavors while at Washington High School (Washington, Louisiana) from 1969-1972 were amazing. He was a member of the WHS Track team for three years; and in 1972, he ran the 2nd leg of the District 11-B Championship Track Team. He competed in the open 400 Meter dash and was in the Top 3 in District 11-B. He was a great track athlete for all three years, receiving several trophies.
Eugene loved trail rides, zydeco music, rodeos, horse cutting shows, cowboy movies such as “Bonanza” and “Lonesome Dove,” and sitting under the barn hanging out with his cowboy buddies. HE TRULY LIVED A COWBOY LIFE.
He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, a founding member of the Lake Charles Connection Trail Riders, and the Flying High Rodeo Team.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife of thirty-six years, Raquel Babineaux King of LeBleu Settlement; son, Eugene King, Jr. of Marietta, GA; daughters, Fredia (Dwayne) Shilow of Orange, TX and Rachael King of LeBleu Settlement; sister, Sheila King of New Orleans, LA and brothers, Willie S. King, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA, Donald King of Kinder, LA, and Larry (Faye) King of Lake Charles, LA, step sisters Catherine Gaskin of Denver, Colorado, Cecilia Jefferson of Lafayette, Colorado and Brenda Deville Jones (Hildon) of Denver, Colorado; Aunts, Joyce Thomas of Lake Charles, LA, Florita Wolf (Elray) of Beaumont, TX, Patsy Self (Leon) of Baton Rouge, LA; godson, Kevin King of Houston, TX; goddaughter, Mary King Prater of Mukilteo, Washington, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, and cousins. He will also be missed by a special sister-in-law, Wanda Ann King, his bonus sisters, Veronica Locksey, Jackie Green, and Lynette Johnson, a host of sisters-in-law and his mother-in-law, Maureen Babineaux.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Samuel King, Sr., and Margaret Lavine King; stepmother Emily Deville King, Grandparents, Samuel and Julia King; brothers, Todd Wayne King and Christopher Jerome King; stepbrother Michael Deville; stepsister Barbara Deville Combs; niece, Anita King; and grandson, Dzhon Shilow.
A celebration of his life will be honored with a Wake/Visitation on Friday, June 26 from 5pm-8pm. A second visitation will be held on Saturday June 27 at 9am, followed by funeral service at 11am. All services will be held in the King's Funeral Home Chapel.
