Rev. Eugene Stewart , 78, faced his pain with courage, did not complain and kept the faith until the end. God called him home on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in Lake Charles, LA.
Rev. Eugene Stewart was an only child born to the late John Stewart and Louella Bishop on July 17, 1937, in Cameron, LA. He was reared by his mother and stepfather, the late Embery Williams.
He was a resident of Cameron, LA, until his family relocated to Lake Charles, LA, after the devastation of Hurricane Audrey. He completed his education in Cameron Parish. He received Christ at an early age and was baptized. He began his calling in the Ministry at the Straightway Baptist Church in Roanoke, LA, under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie Stevens, Jr. He served faithfully at the Greater Live Oak Baptist Church until his illness prevented him from attending.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Vivian Brantley (Melvin LaSalle), Gladys Renee Stewart, Sharon Freeman Carter (Darrell Carter); one son, Gregory Eugene Stewart, Sr.; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one Godson, Eddie Bartie and a family of stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepparents, his wives, Gladys Marie Stewart, Saphronia "Joella" Stewart and Barbara Stewart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home, Rev. James Walker officiating.Visits: 0
