George Alfred Charles, Sr. was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the age of 68 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born in Plaisance, Lousiana to Vincent and Ola Charles. He leaves to mourn his wife of 12 years, Frances Yvonne Charles; one daughter, Winifred Jackson-Bell (Dannie); one son, George A. Charles, Jr.; two stepdaughters, Vanessa Bias (Sherman) and Melissa Brown; one stepson Mark Fontenot (Joann); and one grandson, Jakeim. George attended Washington High School in Lake Charles. He enjoyed cheering on the football team each Friday night and shooting the breeze with family and friends, until his recent illness. George will forever be remembered for his close ties to his sister, Beulah Joubert, her children, and his siblings: Vincent Charles, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Annie Mae Miller of Houston, Texas; and Ann LeBlanc of Oakland, California. The family would like to thank the Resthaven staff for taking such good care of "Pop". He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Anthony Charles, Sr.; and five sisters: Agnes Charles, Georgiana Perry, Mildred Mitchell, Audrey Hollier and Ora Williams.
