George Alfred Rachal , 80, departed this life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.  He was born November 1, 1942, to John Nelson Rachal and Evangeline Balthazar Rachal in Natchitoches, LA.  He was an Army Vietnam Veteran.  He worked at the Sheriff Department and retired from Olin/Lyondell as an instrument and electrical supervisor.  He loved fishing, hunting and traveling which included all 50 states, Jamaica, Paris, Rome and multiple cruises.

He leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife of 61 years, Betty Lee Strauss Rachal of Lake Charles, LA; two children, Belinda (Christopher) Avery and Gerald Rachal both of Lake Charles, LA; four brothers, Vernon (Nelsa) Rachal of Texarkana, TX, Sylvester (Diedre) Rachal, J. V. Rachal and Carl (Barbara) Rachal all of Lake Charles, LA; four sisters, Ida (Jude) LeCompte of Niceville, FL, Evelyn (Rocky) Lute, Barbara Motte both of Lake Charles, LA  and Patricia (Charles) Sirman of Ft. Worth, TX; four grandchildren, Christopher Avery, II, of Lafayette, LA, Cean (Saydie) Avery of Elton, LA, Benjamin Avery of Pineville, LA and Alia Tauzin of Lake Charles, LA; sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evangeline Rachal; one brother, John Nelson Rachal, Jr.; one brother-in-law, Lionel Motte and one sister-in-law, Alzina Rachal.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, 9:30 a.m., a rosary at 10:30 a.m., at King's Funeral Home and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
