Gilbert Joseph Thomas "Cool Jewel", 67 Gilbert Joseph Thomas passed away at his home in Lake Charles, LA on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the age of 67. Gilbert was born in Lake Charles, LA on May 4, 1948. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell (Pete) and Agnes Thomas; paternal grandparents, Pierre "Bud" and Mary Eva Pete; maternal grandparents, Ben and Elvina Lewis; and his beloved sister, Earline Marie Thomas Francis. Gilbert is lovingly remembered by his sister Ruth Ann Thomas Paul ("Dickey") of Lake Charles, LA; daughter Tonya Thomas of Houston, TX; son Tony Richard of Lake Charles, LA; nephews Cornell Thomas, Lake Charles, LA; Antonio B. Thomas (Charlotte), Houston, TX; Cleveland "Sean" Paul III, Lake Charles, LA; Dwayne A. Francis (Wendy), Lancaster, CA; niece Shantay Francis, Los Angeles, CA; and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, and countless friends. He attended Washington High School and earned his high school diploma. Gilbert went on to earn several certificates in various trades. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was often deemed the "life of the party!" The visitation will be held from 8:00AM - 10:45 AM Saturday, August 15, 2015 at King's Funeral Home, 1611 Gerstner Memorial Drive, Lake Charles, LA. The Rosary will be at 9:00AM. The funeral service will begin promptly at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2031 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana officiated by Father V. Wayne LeBleu. Burial will follow the funeral service at Combre Memorial Park.
