Gussie Mae Dixon Edwards, 83, departed this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, La. She was born on July 3, 1931, to Manuel and Elizabeth Byrd Dixon in Cheneyville, La. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jeffery Edwards; one son, Sylvester Hayes (Lois) of Morgan City, La; three daughters, Vivian Jack, Barbara Paster and Brenda Harris (Paul) of Lake Charles, La; three generations of grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Washington and Stella Victorian of Lake Charles, La., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Beverly Jean Clayton, one son, Milton Hayes and one granddaughter, Shequila Hayes Guillory. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m., at Union Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Bernard, Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
