Haris Horace Holmes , "Puppy",  80, departed this life on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles, LA.  He was born December 11, 1941, to Joseph Holmes and Almatine Ford Holmes in Sulphur, LA.  He was a long-time  member of Curry Chapel CME Church. He worked diligently for Century Steps in Sulphur, LA, over 42 years and was one of the most devoted and hardest working team member at the company.  He was a great person to work with, very encouraging to all his co-workers, setting a great example how to produce high quality concrete steps for 42 years.  He loved visiting with his family and friends.  He also loved fishing, gardening, especially flowers, horses and raising other animals.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Helen M. Holmes of Pearland, TX, and Quinsuella Holmes of Humble, TX; four sisters, Cora (Charles) Faulk of Baytown, TX, Jo Murl Goodly and Burndine Perry of Sulphur, LA and Ella DeBoest of Lake Charles, LA; five brothers, Edward (Catherine) Holmes and Freddie (Judy) Holmes both of Sulphur, Donald (Alvertha) Holmes of Westlake, LA, Albert (Joyce) Holmes of Baytown, TX and Ray Ford Holmes of Lake Charles, LA; two grandchildren, Willie Ballou and Jamar Ballou; four great grandchildren, Malachi Warner, Dominique Warner, Milah Ballou and Ka'mani Ballou; a special nephew, Marcus Livings and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Almatine Holmes; two sisters, Dorothy Marie LeDay and Juanita Hardy; three brothers, Roy Holmes, Charles Holmes and Joseph Holmes, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Curry Chapel CME Church, 208 Maple Street, Sulphur, LA.  Burial will follow in Farquhar Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Sulphur under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
