hazel Orphey White, of Lake Charles, was born September 29, 1923. She departed this life January 10, 2015 at the age of 91. Hazel was the oldest of seven children born to the late Lawrence and Nola Orphey. Whiled married to Sylvester White she gave birth to two daughters, the late Laura Howard and Osie Thompson. Hazel enjoyed caring for others, just as much as life itself. More than anything, appreciated the simple things that life had to offer. She loved taking pictures. Whether behind the camera or in front. She beamed with excitement and could always manage to get the smile she wanted. Always willing to try her luck at a slot machine, was only a peak at the adventurous side of her. Her passion for traveling, was undeniable, from her favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas, to anywhere else the wind blew, she was destined to find what the city had to offer. Spending time with family was evident. From quick phone calls to just catch up, to long daytime visits, were pure heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lawrence Jr and her oldst daughter Laura Howard. She is survived by her youngest daughter Osie Thompson, 5 grandchildren; Earl(Liz) Thompson, Kevin (Joycelyn) Thompson, David (Michelle) Thompson, Jessie (Darrin) Fontenot, and Jenetta Howard. 4 sisters; Billie Williams, Lucille Orphey, Gloria Ethridge, Barbara Gilliuam, 2 brothers; Michael and Roy Orphey, 12 Great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
