IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Chaney
Taylor
April 17, 1934 – July 22, 2020
Helen Chaney Taylor was called home on July 22, 2020, at the age of 86 years old. She lived in Lake Charles, La. and was born in Washington, La. on April 17, 1934, to the proud parents of James Buck and Olivia Johnson. Her parents taught her to "trust in the Lord with all of her might and lean not on her own understanding."
She attended Reeves Temple Church and God remained head of her life and she was surrounded by those she blessed and those who blessed her with unconditional love until the day the Lord opened his arms and said, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." She met no stranger and was a loving attentive presence in all her grandchildren's lives. She had a grand sense of fashion style which she inherited from her mom and was an active member of the Fourteen Socialite Club. She loved cooking, traveling, and gaming and blessed many with her infectious laugh that lifted the lowest of spirits. She is survived by one son, Gregory Sam Jones. Greg and his Mom were often called the "twins" and he often referred to her as his "best girl." Greg moved into the home with his Mom and honored and cared for her until the day of her departure to live in her heavenly home.
She is survived by two daughters, Lucretia Jones (David Jones, son-in-law) and Gwendolyn Jones; one son, Gregory S. Jones; four sisters, Verna Bledso of Tx., Emma Lee Chavis of La., Janie Bee Young of Florida, and Mary Alice Boyce of NC; seven grandchildren, Quincy Carrier (Lakeysha Carrier, granddaughter-in-law), Latosha Britt, Quanita Chaney Jones, Damond Pierre, Derrick Jones, Darius A. Jones, and Devon T. Jones; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Marie Jones; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Labbe- Jones; one sister, Lillie Buck of Tx. and two brothers, Rev James Jimmy Buck and Clarence Buck both of Tx.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at King's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
