Herman Payne was the fifth child and the first to the union of William Paine and Mandie Gertrude Neyland in Lunita, LA. He served two years in the U.S. Army, from 1951 to 1953. He also belonged to VFW 4759. He worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Dept. as a deputy from 1972 to 1984. He was preceded in death by; his father and mother, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, wife Cleo Crandford Payne, and 3 stepsons.
