Ida was born to Preston Carmon and Elda Noel Carmon on April 11, 1927 in the midst of the Great Flood. She was born in LeBeau, Louisiana, where she attended Immaculate Conception School.
After moving to DeQuincy, LA she married Aubrey Harris, Jr. in 1947. To this union six children were born; Rose (Albert) May, Mary Lee Esther (deceased), Audrey, Whitney, James (Linda), and Nora. She is also survived by a stepson, Joseph (Carol) Foster and three very special "children" niece, Eva Williams, and cousins; Mary Ann (Jeff) Mays and Rev. John Stewart. She is also survived by 4 sisters; Margie Shaw, Mildred Thomas, Augusta (Michael) Rideau, and Betty (John) Rideau; 4 brothers; Preston, Cecil, Whitney and Kenneth (Carol) Carmon; 9 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of family members and friends. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Mary Lee Esther, husband Aubrey Harris, Jr., her parents; Preston and Elda Carmon, 2 brothers, Clarence and John Carmon, and 1 grandson Micah Pinkney.
Idam at various times, was a member of Immaculate Conception, St. Martin DePorres, St. John Bosco, St. Henry, and our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Churches, where she was a member of the Alter Society, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver, the Crusilio Movement and various Rosary and Prayer groups.
She was employed as a paraprofessional working with special students with the Calcasieu Parish Schools for over 20 years. She considered this opportunity as a blessing from God.
Ida was convinced that "God was on the side of all of his children. " She feared no one and worked hard to make this world a better place for everyone.
May the Lord look beyond her faults and see her needs.
