On Saturday Nov. 2, 2013, Irma Jean Hanchett at the age of 72, peacefully went to rest in the arms of the Lord. She was surrounded by Angels, loving family members and friends. She was born on April 27, 1941 in Eunice, La to Samuel and Alice G. Thomas and attended Charles Drew High School. She was baptized by the late Melvin Scott Green, Pastor of Golden Star Baptist Church in Eunice, La. She met and married Matthew Hanchett, and from that union 3 sons, Spencer and Donald R. Hanchett of Lake Charles and Darrell L. Hanchett of Atlanta, Ga. She was preceded in death by: her parents Samuel Thomas and Alice Guillory Thomas; her loving husband of 42 years Matthew Hanchett, and 3 brothers, Austin Gobert, Willie (TWell) Guillory and Jeffrey Thomas; 2 sisters; Elnora Frank and Mathilda Collins. She leaves to mourn 3 sons, Spencer (Ethel) Hanchett, Donald R. Hanchett both of Lake Charles, Darrell L. Hanchett of Atlanta, GA and 2 granddaughters and 5 great grandsons and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
